so along with shooting this independent documentary, the managers at the senior home keep asking us to shoot some promo shots for the buildings website...
so here are some shots from the Yearly Summer picnic...
I feel bad bc i'm not sure these are the types of photographs their looking for...
when i took the first picture inside the bus i was standing behind one of the building managers, who at the time was giving instructions on what will happen once we get to the park. This was my first visit and meeting with the Residents so i was really hesitant to get into their faces and snap away...
As i stood behind the manager couldn't help but see this picture...
the irony of being on a yellow school bus with a bunch of elderly people...
im always really hesitant to call elderly people "cute"...
i feel like its really disrespectful...since they are so much older and wiser then i will ever be...
this picture just says so much of what i've been feeling through shooting this documentary...

I finally figured out how get enough space on my macbook to work on my photos...
Im really itching to shoot some film...especially for the Doc im working on tomorrow...
i just wish i had a light meter on hand...
i know i need to cave in a just get one...but 200 dollars is just so much right now

i wish the studio was still open..im really in the mood to shoot in the studio...
my camera is becoming more of a crutch to me...
i think reality is starting to hit and im starting to realize how much I need to upgrade...
everytime i edit my photos i feel really disgusted with the quality of the images...
i feel like getting a new lens would just be a waste of money and i might as well just get a new..better camera...
unfortunately that means i somehow need to make at least 2000 dollars asap...

The layout of my new apt is awesome...

Yesterday my friends and i were walking down milwaukee ave to the Bin Wine Cafe when a a drunk Douchebag kept trying to hug me. His Douchebag friends were taking up the whole side walk so i had no where to go...
i could see him getting closer...
so my first reaction was to grab his hands and crush his finger as hard as i could and glare...
he quickly let go...
but at that point i was so pissed...so i turned back and grabbed his body..squeezing as hard as could and used all the strength i had to push him while saying "Dont fucking touch me".
i could tell i pissed him off because he started to come after me sluring "theres no need to get violent"

why the heck did i squeeze his hands?
i should of twisted his fingers back instead...

My brother came to visit for our birthday..he kept buying us so much food...
im really gonna miss him so much
my brother is probably the goofiest person i know...
when you meet him for the first time you think he would be this really calm...quiet asian kid..
then after five minutes the things that come out of his mouth make you crack up so hard..and he will climb and slide down banisters at really fancy museums...
i think his charm is that you can never never if he is trying to be funny...or serious....
for example, my brother got free temporary tattoos at a japanese bar...he put them on and today he kept telling me "jane...look..ppl are giving me mad respect because of my tats...they think im yakuza...."

Today was an interesting day...
started off with the Japan game...
finally got to see a penalty shoot out for the first time in my life...
unfortunately Japan lost..the ref was insanely racist by the way...
the we went to FEAST to get some brunch..
the place is cute but..i dunno i'm still pissed the ppl forgot to give me my doggy bag ..aish..such a waste of food...
Then we tried to cheer up Akiho through some theraputic shopping...
thats where i fell in love with my new marc jacobs small tote..
it was only 6 bucks...
oh and i finally caved and got a small mirror to carry around...
if you guys know me...this is a huge deal...im always asking ppl to see their mirror because im always getting stuff in my eyes...

im slowly trying to get off of facebook...
its like an addiction....
ive tried a few times but ive always relapsed...
so im going to take it step by step...
i feel encouraged today after bible study when a friend mentioned a book my Tim Keller...
I think im seriously going to read the book...
I dunno...theres something about facebook personally for me that just doesn't seem right..
im starting to feel like its just not natural.....
friendships are becoming really shallow because of it...

this weather is making me want to quit everything and train hop and travel

a few weeks ago I called changmin really excited about the Hillsong concert coming up in April...
It was really random..I must of sounded really crazy because i was all giggly and happy ect...
I even kinda sarcastically told him we should go together and how great that would be..knowing in my mind that there's like a 1% chance he could actually go.
of course he said no and I didn't think much of it...
I guess after 7 years i've finally accepted the situation were both in and I understood his situation and just left it at that.
well..today randomly I noticed that I got a missed phone call and a text message from Changmin...
so I read the message

"Jane lets just buy the tickets...i will try to go to the concert but for some reason i cant go then we can give it to someone else ...blah blah...but i also wanted to go to the concert with you too..so lets try and see what we can do..."

for some reason..when i read this message it made me feel warm inside...
i actually found it..quite romantic..
i know i know...how could i find such a boring message like that romantic?
i guess i was just really touched that my boyfriend was making such an effort over something that really didn't matter...
these days its the small things that make the butterflies fly in my stomach :)

Yesterday in Bible study we were finishing up the last two chapters of James and a fellow bible study member shared some of her daily struggles she faces living in Chicago....
as I listened to her speak..I felt so touched by her words...In that moment I felt God tugging at my heart. I knew that God was speaking to me through her words. As she spoke of her struggles I couldn't help but feel her pain...
later when I came home I kept thinking about the girl and what she said...
Lately I've been thinking about the summer of 2007...
I want to go back to that place in my heart....
I am starting to understand now that I need to stop letting everything in the past DEFINE who I am
I have constantly let all my failures and dissapointment guide my life and make my decisions about everything...
Some guy on oprah made the comment "in order to have peace in your heart you must find all the pieces..."
at first i was so taken back by that comment...
but now i know that yes..that comment may sound awesome..but really i think thats our problem..
we become obsessed with finding pieces...trying to put the pieces in our life together to understand why we are the way we are..why we do what we do...and why things happens the way they do...
but in the end...thats not the only thing that will bring us peace..
all the pieces in our life comes from God...and I have to have faith that HE is the only one that that can put the pieces together and create peace in my life...
so im going to try my best...to stop trying to understand...and think Why god...
but try and think of everything as just another piece to my "life puzzle"
and accept that not all my pieces will be smooth and beautiful...
but in the end...everything...all the pieces will come together to make something so beautiful and grand that it wont even matter anymore...

there is no way I can stop cursing...when im taking View Camera...
I want to fall in love with this camera...but circumstances surrounding this class is making it really hard....
I feel like I'm constantly fighting time...
my mind is so boggled right now...
scheduling for turns and just shooting itself is really driving me crazy..
fortunately I have a great partner...
I dunno...its just such a tedious class...
i understand that The view camera is a work horse..i understand that you have to take time and really slow down..
but it seems so hard to do so when in the back of my mind i know that i have to process 12 4x5 sheets...scan...edit and print all in the course of a few days...and then on top of that SHARE the camera with someone else therefor cutting shooting time in half.

6 years ago I was a huge fan of Apple...
But i dunno anymore...
I think i stay with Apple now more because of the fact that i really have no choice when it comes to my work....
Im not a big fan of the Ipods...Iphones...and now the Ipads...
I know..i say this now but later..when i start rolling in the CHING CHING i will most likely get all this crap too hahaha.

There was no such thing as texting so teachers never had to worry about students looking down during classes reading their phones.
Im sure my friends in Korea who teach English understand why I complain so much about this...
a few summers back when I taught English for a summer i would constantly fight with these middle school students about texting during class. These little devils were so good at texting..they could do it while their phones and hands were still in their pockets. I dunno, call me mean but...i hated it because i felt like it was extremely disrespectful to the teacher. To me..texting during class is the same as picking up a phone call.

i was so nervous that i forgot to tell my doctor the most important thing...my random lump in my finger...
I remember coming home thinking..CRAP!
but i kinda forgot about it after i came back until today...
now that area is really sore and kinda making my arm numb...
ah..i know..i know...these are signs i should really go to the doctor...
just going...and getting there is so hard for me...
my body tells me i should...but my mind keeps screaming and running the other way...
i over think doctor visits...

I met up with JH today for some dinner and chill time to catch up and she surprised me with an awesome gift from Korea...
She got me the 최강희 photo essay book!!
I was so surprised and excited and cannot stop looking through the book.
I am falling in love with the whole idea of photo essays...
apparently this is a new fad in Korea right now...
At first i was kind of hesitant to this idea because of all the cyworld craziness going on but after actually seeing one in person...i have to admit..im kinda liking the idea.
I think because this book was so well made it works...
Props to 최강희...her photographs are so beautiful and her writing is so cute and intimate...
It really inspires me to start my own Photo Essay...
I am thinking of doing a collaboration with some people...
My head is bursting with ideas now...
ugh i love JH...she knows me so well haha...

Oh man...no matter how hard i try to stay asleep..I keep waking up around 7 o clock every morning! I realized its because im....yes...im going to say it...JET LAGGED hahahaha.
I know..im only 1 hour behind...thats why its so funny. So every morning I wake up around 7 oclock and sit in my room for 3 hours waiting for my sister to wake up....
Yesterday I finally met up with two of my friends and grabbed so very very very much need Pho time.

so good. Then we hoped back on the train and went all the way to China Town to meet up with Gavin to get 1.64 chinese toast.
SOOO DELICIOUS...
but sadly...on our way we discovered that our favorite froYo place was going to be closed until FEB 14.....
We all literally fell to floor clutching our chest screaming....
what are we going to do?
I guess we will have to settle for red mango until then...
yeah..i said it...settle for red mango...this is how amazing the froyo is here...red mango doesn't even compare...

I remember the first time we met...i think it was summer of 6th grade...i just moved to North Carolina...i was in a horrible mood because i just really did not want to be in North Carolina at the time. I dont remember exactly what she said or did..but we became friends instantly. In the beginning i tried to deny this friendship...not because i didn't like michelle...but because i didnt like North Carolina. Actually i think i did that with everyone here at some point...
But like everyone else Michelle pushed her way into my life and ended up being one of the biggest reasons I eventually fell in love with North Carolina. I think it was Michelle who really taught me how to accept Change...and see the good in it....

I think this has to be probably the best winter breaks i have in a really long time...
probably one of the most memorable...
I have definitely learned A LOT about friendship...
sometimes the best people are just right in front of you and all it takes is an open heart and mind...
I have been extremely humbled and i cant stop thanking God for sending this people in my life.
It is the through the people we meet that God seems to show himself the most for me.
Now i finally understand why fellowship and community is so important...
friendship is necessary for growth and understanding oneself.
Before this break i took friendship for granted...
my wall was so thick..so high...
I put myself so high above people without even knowing it.
I blamed other people and made assumptions about people based on my own insecurities...
but now i know...that i was so wrong to think that way...
friendships are the best gifts in life...we have to cherish and work hard to keep them...
Sometimes we focus too much on being understood by others and not enough on actually trying to understand other people...
we complain to much about not getting enough credit...when we don't even give other people credit themselves...
we should all live with attitude of having a open mind..open heart and open arms....
we strive to call God our friend...how could we do so if we cant even be friends to the people around us?
I cant believe for so long.... i thought it was others people responsibility to break down my walls... when I was the only one who could...the job of our friends is to be there after we break down the wall and be there and help keep that wall from being built again...through trust and love.
If anything, the only thing that stood in the way experiencing true friendship was myself...

I haven't been blogging during my winter vacation due to my inability to upload my photographs...

so i just finished watching a korean romantic comdey...er...tragedy i dunno..

plot:
big shot playboy falls in love with girl he meets on the way to get a check up after a slight fender bender. Boy feels an instant connection with the girl thats hes never had with any other girl before. Boy tries really hard to win girls heart. Girl falls in love with Boy. Boy finds out that she is dying. Boy decides to stick with girl and make the rest of her living days wonderful. Girl and boy cry like crazy. Girl is about to die. Girls tries to break up with Boy. Boy is persistent and waits outside her house like a stalker. Girl cannot stand it and decides to follow her heart.Girl tells boy, I love you..i know you are dying to. Then Boy realized that the girl found out his secret..he is also dying from a brain tumor...
so in the end...boy and girl both die.

so...after the movie finished

Samsung Unveils NX10 Compact Camera with DSLR-size Sensor

In the first major camera announcement leading up to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next week, Samsung officially pulled the wraps off the 14.6-megapixel Samsung NX10, a digital SLR-style camera which fits an APS-C size CMOS sensor into a compact body that accepts interchangeable lenses.

Even though it has a DSLR-size sensor, the NX10 is not a true digital SLR since it does not have a mirror box.The NX10, which was first unveiled in prototype form as the NX back at PMA 2009, also has a 3-inch AMOLED screen and can record 720p HD movies.

There was no word on what interchangeable lenses the NX10 will accept and whether they will be created by Samsung or another manufacturer. The camera will be available, in black or silver, starting in Spring 2010.

Pricing has not yet been announced.

for example yesterday I bought the Revlon Color stay foundation...a foundation i use to wear LOOOOOOONG time ago when no one knew about it.
something about the North Carolina weather is making my skin more uneven so i keep resorting to more and more coverage on my face...i hate it.
Living in chicago i got use to just layering on the moisturizer and stepping out without much skin makeup and i guess i just got really use to it.
Yesterday i put on some foundation and i felt like my skin couldn't breathe.
sigh..for all you men who are reading this...you have no idea how good you have it...
wearing foundation is a curse...once you start you can never go back...
it messes up your skin coloration and you start to rely more and more on it.
for some reason after you wear foundation for a long time....all the un evenness and imperfections seem to be even more visible when you dont wear foundation...
its a really annoying cycle...
you search and search for the perfect shade...then the perfect brand because if your like me..your sensitive to everything and you break out like crazy..
i dunno...Maybe i just need to go back to chicago haha
its really weird....even though its a million times dryer and colder...my skin is a million times better there...
maybe its the water...

what makes an artist?
I think were all obsessed with finding the def of artist....
im starting to realize...
there is no def...
and it really doesnt matter
its not about why...or what anymore...
deep down i think were all artist to some extent...
I use to think that being an artist was a really selfish way of life...
all about the survival of the fittest....
until i met people who thought this way...
and then met people who didnt...
if anything...i think im starting to really understand that art is about collaboration and teamwork...
we have to be great at what we do individually...but its also extremely important to be great at sharing..communicating spreading art...
im also starting to learn that humility is key....
slowly im starting to see how ridiculous this..."I am an artist so im the shit" mentality is...
i think im at the point where i just dont care if im the shit or not.....
its not about pleasing anyone else..its not about proving to people i can do it...
its all about proving to myself that I can do what I love if i work freakin hard and believe in myself...that i can do all this and some how change someone out there...move them in some way...to stop...and think...
its crazy..because people think artist are all crazy liberals who are too open minded with no backbone..
but when you talk to alot of artist they end up being some of the most self centered, close minded people ever....
I really hope I never get to that point...
i admit i was getting there...but now i know...
i never want to get there...never
