strawberry short cake

my roommate is about to devour her ginormous bowl of Pho


today was a really random day...
I randomly decided to meet my friend at Belmont to "eye" shop at the Korean boutiques...
like always i "almost" bought shoes and a bunch of other unnecessary items...
I must say I did a pretty good job~
then my friend had to leave to meet her roommate and her roommates dad for dinner.
I was incredibly jealous bc they were going to the Signature lounge for dinner...man i wish
So i met up with my roommate downtown and we randomly decided to take the long arse trip up north to get the best pho in the whole wide world (tank)
after indulging in all the greasy goodness we decide to go back downtown and get some drinks and desert at cheesecake factory...
Cheesecake is way to heavy for me so i decide to get a cake instead
so after browsing through the menu i decide to get the strawberry shortcake and mojito...
after 15 minutes my Mojito comes and like always it is perfect!
Then my Strawberry short cake comes.... and i am confused....
I guess in my mind i imagined a yellow cake with strawberry layers....
but instead i was shocked to see...a biscuit with whip cream, vanilla ice cream and strawberry's all over...
I am shocked because I have seen this before...
suddenly i get this sudden flashback of my last school in NC...
i remember going to the desert table and seeing a bunch of biscuits with whip cream and strawberry. This always confused me....
why in the heck would you combine whip cream and biscuits?!?
i just never ever understood it.
I just assumed that my school was being really cheap and trying to use up all the left over biscuits from breakfast....
but...now two years later i realize....THIS IS WHAT A STRAWBERRY SHORT CAKE IS!!!!
and now i am just as confused as i was two years ago wondering why?!
someone tell me..WHY!?!
i feel like i should wikipedia this... I need to find out whats going on with this desert...
i thought about it while i was eating it (it was...ooook)
i finally came up with the conclusion...
It is called strawberry short cake because...they ran "short of cake" and had to use a biscuit instead? i dunno
